Never seen the contract so I don’t know, but usually character songs, again, are a buy-out. Depending on contracts there might be a small royalty, but every royalty I’ve heard of on character songs is a pittance.
Payment for events is not by song, but by the event as a whole. (Including singing, acting, providing modeling for photography used in pamphlets or other goods, etc)
