Looks like they're making some tweaks to the SMRPG battle system:
I also notice they don't have the "Legend of the Seven Stars" subtitle anymore. And Valentina is less -- as I saw her described somewhere long, long ago -- "buoyant". |

I knew the Mario movie being a success would mean more games. I didn't realize that meant they would release all the games within a six-month timeframe or so.

Ahh -- normally deeply uninterested in anything that feels like a remake (or reboot, even), in any medium, but I've been thinking about replaying Super Mario RPG for a long time. Information on this remake of it looks promising so far, maybe it will be the way to go...

Pretty bold move for that new Mario platformer game to be released on the same day as Spider-Man 2.
But wow, you can actually play as Daisy in the new one which is awesome. Heck, this is pretty dang good for Princess Peach fans since all the Mario games announced have playable Peach plus she has a brand new solo game!

Was that something that even needed the movies to happen, though? Mario is a huge franchise, I don't think Nintendo would need movies to judge wether or not people care about him. It's like if SEGA only made more Sonic games entirely because of the movies. |

It is more something that people in forums invested in the industry thought Nintendo should have done. Nintendo did release a Mario themed Switch bundle around the time the Mario Movie arrived in theaters, I didn't think a new Mario game releasing at the same time was necessary, but I can imagine SMB Wonder and the RPG remake having a boost in sales with the popularity of the movie
It's Mario, he's obviously going to sell more copies, not that Spider-Man 2 isn't going to sell badly. This comparison kind of reminds me of a forum thread where people were discussing which game would sell more, Final Fantasy VII Remake or Animal Crossing New Horizons, the thread started to get a lot of traffic and they had to close it down. In the end Animal Crossing sold 42 million copies, while FFVIIR sold 5 million |

Super Mario RPG is one of my favorite video games of all time! I'm getting this. Hopefully there'll be a physical release.
Still hoping for a Chrono Trigger remake someday, though. |

Super Mario RPG might be what it takes for me to buy a Switch. It'll be just my luck to cave and buy one and then they finally make a "pro" model after the years of rumors.

I can assure you that there will be no Switch Pro. At this point you will see a Super Switch aka a new system with 1440p docked (please have Displayport!) and 720p handheld/table top mode and maybe DLSS 3.0 4K docked. My bet is March of next year at the earliest and October/November of 2025 at the latest.

I'm surprised no Rosalina in the new Mario but Daisy is there but maybe she'll be an unlockable character like she was in 3D World.
RPG remake looks great and pretty faithful, interested in the new stuff but the onlyco mplaint is the battle UI looks a bit bland |
