Yes, but they might could have waited a couple weeks to announce it. I was just about to check it out this weekend. Anime smallmouth + sweatdrop

Oh well, I guess I'll just wait for the DVDs.

Being a fan of this show, (and the comedy genre of anime in general), I'm really happy to hear that cromartie high has been lisenced. I'm even more happy to hear that ADV are the ones that picked it up. Just going by ADV track record alone, they have proved that they know how to handle obscure, off-the-wall comedy/parody anime series with tender loving care. Just look at how well they managed with such series as Excel Saga, Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi, Dragon Half (that was REALLY stupid but, disturbingly funny at the same time), and Colorful. ADV obtainig the distribution lisence to Sakigake!! Cromartie High is truley awsome news. I can't wait for the release of the first volume.

Hmmm hopefully ADV doesn't take forever to release Cromartie. Since it is 11min x 26, are they going to have it as 2 volumes or
4? I wonder if they are also got the rights to the manga... allready 12 volumes (with a special cd-rom) in jp. I was hoping Bandai would release it here since they sponsored in jp, so this would get onto Adult Swim. Oh well.. :/

I'm mostly surprised - and rather pleased - at Gunslinger Girl going to Funimation. It certainly fits ADV's "profile" of licenses much more - and is a good deal more violent than probably anything Funi's handled to date. And of course ADV is putting out the manga. But, well, just means that between this and Spiral, two more sets of burns and HK DVD's are getting put into the back of my closet ^_^

Can't help but wonder, though, on something like this, can any kind of rights/compensation issue arise with the Delgados (or the label that put out Hate?) - or was this something that was taken care of under the original licensing arrangement between them and the Japanese production company?

(for those who don't know, Gunslinger Girl features two songs by the British band The Delgados.)

I’m sorry, but...what? Did that make sense?

Anyways, I never did get a chance to see E’ Otherwise. And just by reading the synopsis, it sounds like something I might enjoy. But, from what I’ve heard, it was only considered as being borderline good.

Said that because I watched E's a very long time ago, and remember it being really boring at first to me, then later in the series being impressed... but I don't remember why... I like the manga a bit better, but I've only been able to read one volume.

This occurred to me too. One would hope that things like DVDs and international licensing would have been covered in the original deal, but you never know.

It would be a real loss if FUNimation couldn't use "The Light Before We Land." It's an incredible song, does a lot for the tone of the show, and makes for one of the better anime openers I've seen/heard. It's great advertising for the band, too. Before seeing Gunslinger Girl, I had never heard of the Delgados, but afterwards I went out and bought Hate immediately.

Oh, well. Probably shouldn't buy trouble. I'm just glad GG is finally licensed. I loved the first four episodes, and can't wait to see more.
