Konami Announces TurboGrafx-16/PC Engine mini Console

Konami announced on Wednesday that it will release the TurboGrafx-16 mini, a compact console pre-loaded with games from the catalog of NEC's original TurboGrafx-16 console.
Konami lists the following initial games for the version of the console that the company will sell in the Americas:
- R-Type
- New Adventure Island
- Ninja Spirit
- Ys Book I & II
- Dungeon Explorer
- Alien Crush
The TurboGrafx-16 mini will offer Quick Save for saving at any point in a game, various display modes including 4:3 aspect ratio and emulation of CRT scanlines, and up to five simultaneous players via a seprately-sold multitap.
Konami is also offering the console in Japan as the PC Engine mini with the following initial titles:
- Super Star Soldier
- The Kung Fu (China Warrior)
- PC Genjin (Bonk's Adventure)
- Akumajō Dracula X: Chi no Rondo (Castlevania: Rondo of Blood)
- Ys I & II
- Dungeon Explorer
Similar, the console will be available in Europe as the PC Engine CoreGrafx mini with the same six games so far announced for the Americas. In all regions, Konami promises to reveal more titles in the future, although it has not yet announced the console's release dates.
The original PC Engine console launched in Japan in 1987, and then debuted in the United States in 1989. It eventually spwawned several variants including portable versions and versions equipped with CD-ROM drives.
