I hope it's nothing too serious. The last manga break was due to adachitoka contributing to an exhibit for the series. This is a lot more sudden and far more unclear.

Is it really only a one-month break? The notice didn't give an explicit return date. When it went on break last year, it was also not given a return date with the initial announcement and ended up being off the next month as well, and then it was that month's issue that said it would return in the next issue.
I'm beginning to wonder if one of the authors has some kind of chronic health problem. They used to publish Shuuishuu chapters once a quarter along with their monthly chapter releases, but they haven't put out a Shuuishuu chapter in two years now. Then leading up to the first break, the page count of the chapters had started decreasing. For about 60 chapters the page count was consistently 44, then it started inconsistently varying from 36-44, with chapter 67 outright missing the last 8 pages in its magazine release that were only released later once the tankoubon was compiled.
Chapter 75 is needed to finish up volume 19 whenever it comes out (the time between tankoubon releases has varied between 4 and 7 months between them lately, so it could be as early as June or as late as September), so hopefully this break won't be too long.

Agreed. The vagueness is strange, and it does make me lean towards there being something serious behind it.

I really hope not. Especially since they lost Tadashi Kawashima, while working on Alive, to cancer.
Also, I didn't realise that Kodansha USA started to release Alive (from vol 9 onwards) digitally...
