I imagine one problem is that the generals would be too busy having relations with each other to get involved with the author.

Another problem might be that the Warring States period lasted over 100 years, so Yuri would be a very thirsty corpse by the time some of the key players come into being. Maybe the guys will reveal that they all have a complicated relationship with zombies.

The website China Highlights has a page called "The Warring States Period — From 14 Kingdoms to 7 to 1". The article mentions that it lasted from 475-221 B.C. So, this series manga-ka should choose a specific event in that time period to focus on.
