Ya know,

I'm usually skeptical about renewals of old works -- look at how good the last Indiana Jones film was and the mixed reactions to the last Star Trek and Star Wars films (decidedly more negative for The Last Jedi)! -- but this actually looks neat.

I was concerned about hearing there was a lot of CG but it looks pretty decent.

Disclosure: I HAD one of the Shogun Warriors toys in the 1970s.
It was the missile-firing (fingers) version of Mazinger. I thought it was a neat-looking robot, now and then. Some designs just persist -- there's no reason to change what wasn't broken to begin with! I wish that idea/lesson sunk through in the West when it comes to OUR classic characters and designs!!!!

I haven't seen a lot of this series but I'm familiar with the title robot. Oh, yes, that was close in time to Star Wars for me!

I saw the thumbnail before reading the title, and I thought it was going to be a Discotek announcement.

Having seen the movie at the EU screening, I can say it relies heavily on a minimum knowledge of certain events of the series, most its fanservice but some isn't.
Oh, and it's set in the TV series continuity so people shouldn't expect stuff like Shin Mazinger, Mazinkaiser or ZERO.
