Being that this is coming out this season that is one anime I am anticipating to see. So far my only pet peeve is that in once scene all the guards line up are CGI (this is becoming a recent pet peeve for me). I get why they use CGI as it helps to cut corners, but it looks kind of out of place. I would like if they have either they were in 2D animation like everyone/everything else or just make the whole anime CGI. Otherwise, I look forward to seeing it when it's release and translated.

Their rows look too perfect. 'Normal humans' ranked and filed don't stand that precise and static, which is what looks out of place to me. CGI is still in that uncanny valley, but it is getting better. Other than that, the PV looked very good. I'm glad they are fleshing the story out a bit, because up to this point, 'that singing (CG) anime' was about all I knew about it.

Really? I never knew that. If that is the case I would have like if they have attempted to make those guards stand in a formal, but more natural position like in real life.

True. There was this one anime from last year titled Land of the Lustrous produce by Orange that had the best CGI I have seen so far. I have not watch the anime, but I have seen screen shots and they were gorgeous. For this reason it won best CGI at Crunchyroll's Anime Awards. Also, I have been watching this anime titled A Place Further Than the Universe by Madhouse and while I notice CGI being use in that show it's not to the point that it I think it stand out terribly. It's as if it's almost blended in with everything else and therefore is not so much of a distraction so far (at least in my opinion).

Another thing this anime is also going to have the characters be in CGI when they sing? I never got the impression this upcoming show was this "singing (CG) anime", but then I never saw the other previews. Funny when you described the anime like that I first thought you were comparing it to another anime that came out early this year.

Your should watch it, just for the fact that is a great anime. Orange did those concept sketches true justice. ANN posted a good Interest article, if you missed it: animenewsnetwork.com/interest/2018-02-26/a-look-into-the-art-and-animation-of-land-of-the-lustrous/.128275

This is the first promo I remember seeing, and makes more sense for my original opinion. I think things have developed a bit. Very Happy

I have thought about giving the series a try when I first discovered the manga the anime is based on at a Books a Million. The story seemed interesting to me. However I was unsure when I read that the first episode had a not so good start story wise. With that said I did hear about how good the art was from a animetuber I watch, and then there is the fact the anime won best CGI show for last year. I would give it a try one day. In the meantime thanks for sharing that article. It was nice to read a bit about what went into making the anime I especially found the idea of triadic colors. I never heard of such a thing, but it's amazing how Yoichi Nishikawa went about coloring that environment by only using and combining three colors.

Wow! O_O That part of the preview looked like I was watching a preview for a video games (perhaps maybe from the days of the Playstation 2 or 3?). Plus the characters looked and felt stiff. I am hoping this is just for the preview and they would keep parts of the animation when they are singing/performing in (and given from that recent trailer that might be the case), but we'll shall see. I am still looking forward to watching this anime. Thanks for sharing this as well Usagi. Smile
