I give 10:1 odds against that Crunchyroll's app is actually functional.

I've never understood why consoles even need stuff like this, as almost everything else can run a: Netflix, Crunchyroll Amazon Video etc app.

actually, it's incredibly useful to have more devices that can run more apps- since not every device gets every app. not to mention it's just nice to have all (or as much as possible) of your entertainment- be it games or shows/movies, in one box.

People value convenience. Having one box plugged into their TV versus multiple. Yes, lots of TVs now have apps, but those are often low quality and abandoned quickly.

yeah, i found my experience with crunchyroll on the ps4 to be absolutely awful.

it was slow when i had a crunchyroll premium account and for a while, i thought it was just my internet connection, until i read about other people having the same problem.

then, when i let the cr premium expire, i thought "hey, i'll just watch cr stuff a week later, like a lot of people do." only to then wind up with the adverts bugging out on me. i remember trying to watch one episode of a show, only for it to have an advert halfway through that JUST KEPT ON LOOPING! i must have seen that sword art online video game ad like four times before i realised it was stuck and i'd need to go back, then likely rewatch the entire episode because it wouldn't let you scrub through to the point you were once at... -_-
