Interesting, I didn't her perspective to be very worth while. I hope they fix that issue with women losing their jobs during maternity, that's horrible

I think she makes some good points. Women can offer a different and valid perspective in the production process and a more authentic voice on how women should be portrayed (and she's saying there isn't a "correct" way, or that men can't write women, but that it's important to keep other perspectives in mind)

Japan definitely needs to have a better handle on maternity leave and treating female employees who start families and don't treat it as an automatic reason to retire. It's part of the reason for the low birth rates.

So could someone please tell me which companies produced the series?
I have asked other times, but I was ignored.

There is a very long list of companies involved in the production of Megalobox on the encyclopedia entry.

No wonder I felt the animation to be very good for a TMS series.

I usually hate these kinds of articles but I was quite surprised by this interview. Even I can relate to when she pointed out that it's harder to get promoted because the numbers of workers increased. She brought out some good points.

I already know the producers from season 1, I want from season 2, I just know that tbs left the production committee.

On the topic itself,

Quote:
Fujiyoshi highlighted the common difficulties for women who struggle to re-enter the workplace after childbirth, saying that if a vacancy arises from their initial departure, it would be filled by a different person before they can come back. She said she hopes that it would be great for workplaces to create an environment where women can easily return to their original positions after childbirth. "If I had gotten married or had kids in my twenties or thirties, this interview right now about me as a producer would not even be a possibility."

I find it interesting comparing this with the Australian practice (which is mandated by law). When permanent employees take maternity leave their replacement must be advised of the temporary nature of their appointment. It is illegal to dismiss an employee while on maternity leave.

What's the practice in America?

And no job security. You're left to the goodwill of the company. Yes there are FMLA guidelines in place, but all a company has to do is claim the termination was due to some other reason. It's scummy, but I've seen it done many times. Paternity leave is an even bigger joke here in America.

Depends on the state and your job (and how professional management is.) In general, it's 6-12 weeks unpaid maternity leave.

If you work with a good company, they'll either pay for your leave or offer a longer postpartum period. If you work with a bad company, they'll find some excuse to fire you. Some states have protections for pregnant women but it's not enough.

Megalobox 2 was an excellent series. Joe’s redemption was very well written and while the female characters were all supporting players with small roles, they felt real. Kudos to the producer for her input.

Maternity leave policies can have a huge impact on women’s decisions when and whether to have kids, and you’d think that a country concerned about its birth rate would improve their policies—but lack of female politicians at the top impedes that progress. I was also surprised to learn (through an autobiographical manga) that Japan doesn’t subsidize fertility treatments. They complain about their birthdate and do absolutely nothing to support women who want to have children.
