Saw this yesterday—quite a pleasant film, and definitely a must-watch for anyone interested in gliders or in aviation in general. It's very obvious that it's cramming more than it really should into a single film (secondary characters' arcs tend to be concluded almost as soon as they're introduced; Chizuru, for example, basically solves her own problems without a confrontation), but it cuts and elides judiciously to construct a relatively focused narrative. I rather perversely enjoyed the storytelling's balancing act as it constantly hung over the edge of irritating melodrama without ever actually tipping into the "irritating" pit. Although the animation is nothing to write home about, it serves its purpose well and some of the flight sequences are nicely done.

The worst that can be said about the movie is that the ending is a little oddly abrupt
