I'm definitely glad it's streaming on more platforms than just Amazon Prime but man, that dub situation is so bizarre - way more so than the other Sentai re-dub cases given the timing. I feel kinda bad for everyone involved in either production since they'll always be compared. And unlike some infamous cases with SEA dubs, there isn't exactly a clear consensus that one is flat out terrible or anything and can largely be ignored. At least as far as I know since I haven't watched them, they both seem to be fine(?) and have their good points.
I have friends who prefer dubs and I just told them it's probably a better bet to stick with the sub for Vinland because no one knows what's going to happen with S2. |

Also will be available on Crunchyroll in French and German languages with dubs in both languages, and on Kinopoisk in CIS in Russian language with dub

Given that CR only streams on selected European countries instead of worldwide, I don’t think so. So its between Sentai and Netflix. |

Even if Sentai has the Breaking Bad money on their side, if Netflix really want to, then they can win the tug of war through brute force. |

Chances are viewership might be a deciding factor, more people have Netflix so it has a higher possible viewership, but then Hidive has a smaller catalogue so a larger percentage of viewers are likely to watch it. |

Gave both a shot- preferred the Sentai dub as I felt they were more authentic with the accents and coarser language (loved kid Thorfinn's "I'M... GOING TO [expletive] KILL YOU!!") but the Netflix dub was competent enough as well. As others have stated, glad to see this getting a wider audience. Feel like a lot of people missed out on this one... Amazon really knows how to bury a good show.
Gonna assume we'll see a S2 Netflix premiere (which means we'll probably have to wait almost a year till they stream it outside Japan) with Sentai handling physical media duties. Definitely seems....dumb.. but I don't think this is an isolated incident in the quirky anime licensing business. |

Tell that to Season 2 of Teasing Master Takagi-san, Netflix ONLY dubbed the 2nd Season of the show, but didn't get the license of the show's third season resulting in Sentai getting the license instead. So at the end of the day it will depend if Netflix themselves are interested in licensing Season 2 of Vinland Saga regardless if they have the deep pockets or just let Sentai getting the license for that series, considering that in the past 5-6 months the vast majority of the Winter and Spring 2022 titles (99% of them) were licensed by FUNimation/Crunchyroll and Sentai along with the fact back in November of 2021 Netflix didn't license Spy x Family at their Netflix Anime Event as either they were satisfied with their upcoming anime original titles or Crunchyroll got the license ahead of time and made the license announcement at Anime NYC. Even Netflix didn't bother licensing Chainsaw Man, Blue Lock and Tokyo Mew Mew as the former two were licensed by Crunchyroll and the latter by Sentai, suggestingvthst those licensed licensed them months ahead of time and had more money than Netflix did, along with Netflix's struggles and layoffs during April and their focus on Original Anime content instead of the occasional license. So literally it will depend on Netflix themselves if they are interested in getting Season 2 of Vinland Saga. |
