It seems to me that Mark Dacascos is playing Tatsumi and Sean Bean will be a Western version of Mitsumasa Kido, but I have no idea who Famke Janssen's character is supposed to be.

Maybe Saint Seiya should have been a Netflix job, considering the latter is springing for the cast for One Piece.

Is that shirtless guy in the cage fight supposed to be Cassios?

Seems like Seiya is training with his sister? Or is that Marin?

Oh hey, Athena has purple hair!

Is it too much to hope that instrumental Pegasus Fantasy will actually play in the movie...

I'm still kinda excited for the movie, but what is probably on every Saint Seiya fan's mind is how the signature armor for the Saints is going to look.

Also, that whole thing about wanting to go for 6 movies... please don't. We don't know how this one will turn out yet. Even if it's good, whether or not it will be profitable is unknown. Don't get too confident too quickly.

Agreed.

What gets me is that Toei’s president straight up admits mistakes were made with the CG show and he credits Kuramitsu with help smoothing things over, but then he does the cardinal mistake in films of calling his shot for a franchise. I find it very admirable an executive would admit to mistakes, but still. Slow down.

I don't see anything that makes me hopeful for this movie. That behind-the-scenes video should have been a trailer at this point. There's not even a single piece of concept art to see how the Cloths or the battles are gonna look, and this choreography doesn't look like it's gonna have any weight (which would've made sense given these characters are supposed to be wearing armor).

Also, this thing is based on the Netflix show, which says a lot about the story's quality even before an actual teaser is even released, jfc.

What do you mean? The One Piece actors are mostly unknowns. If any company sprang for big name actors it'd be this. Well, they got Sean Bean, at least.

Ampersand: Yeah, but in terms of quantity, OP seems to have Seiya beat.

The Cloths don't have any weight if the user has the will to fight, or something along those lines.

Shouldn't the rename it "Knight of the Zodiac"? I could not fail to notice that there is only Seya in the main cast!

One Piece's casting doesn't seem any better in my opinion; they're both pretty bad. It also seems like Mackenyu is getting typecasted as the one Japanese-American these projects always cast to show they're acknowledging these IPs are Japanese despite every other actor.

I adore behind-the-scenes glimpses; I enjoy Mark Dacascos' work; I'm pleased that Mackenyu has some action flicks and other live-action adaptations on his resume.

And yet I'm still not optimistic. (Not that I was in the first place, but I hope you get what I mean.) This attempt reminds me of epic-length fanfictions that just get further and further from the source material until all characterization is gone and it's in name only. I know it's just a preview, but I'm just not seeing anything that makes this "Saint Seiya." The only thing remotely close is using Saori's dub name, fight scenes, a throwaway mention of cosmo, and Seiya looking for Seika. Where's everything and everyone else?

I guess we'll find out, but I can't imagine I'll be happy with the results. If I'm proven wrong, then I'll be cool with that. Yet I don't think I will be.
