Even casting aside my personal negative feelings about this anime, it's such a weird choice to dub now. Two years ago when it aired? Sure, then it would've made sense. But now?

This is pretty normal, some shows get dubbed immediately but others that are a lower priority usually won't be touched until much later.

Looks like they're really going back and dubbing stuff, including some missed romance gems (what's next, Koikimo? White Album 2?)

It's nice to see Aaron Campbell as a romantic lead again after Red (Rikuo is a little more like Nakano).

Jill Harris once again the Best Girl and female lead in a romance anime they're dubbing this season, though Sayu and Haru are very different. It's kind of funny though how she and Dallas are in the same anime together but their characters barely interact.

Michelle Rojas should be great as Shinako.

So what's their reasoning for not going back and dubbing A Place Further Than The Universe at this point? Or Sound Euphonium?

Space, probably. With 18 in house dubs, another 5 split between other Dallas area studios, constant work on One Piece, and at least one more announced dub likely starting this weekend, everyone available is probably busy and they simply cant get to those two yet. And that's assuming the aren't also working on other non weekly projects as well. Just gotta be patient

I kind of wonder if they'd do a completely new dub cast for Sound Euphonium or bring back anyone from the past two movie dubs.

A Place Further came out like four years ago and they've had plenty of opportunity to dub it, so I don't really know their resistance in dubbing it has to do with a lack of resources. But it makes this sudden decision to go back and dub other older shows more bizarre to me.

Given their decision to end remote dubbing, I won't be surprised if they do yet another new cast for the series unless they decide to go for the effort of commissioning the LA dubbing studios.

Wouldn't dubbing the two existing seasons of Sound! Euphonium be up to Pony Canyon? Although I suspect that, like with Yuki Yuna, Sentai is licensing season 3 of Euphonium along with seasons 1 and 2.

Once Pony Canyon's license expires, then another licensor like Sentai could theoretically include a dub with their release if they wanted to. Just for some reason they didn't want to with Yuki Yuna season's 2 and 3. Which is why I hope Crunchyroll takes over the license instead since they are much more likely to dub it than Sentai is.

So far, the other back catalogue dubs have been for shows more well received than this one. Considering when it came out, I wonder if this isn’t a production that got abandoned midway during COVID and they’re just now finishing it up. Or there was a contractual agreement to dub it that the company still has to honor.
