I was about to write that I loved the original live-action movies as-is while acknowledging that this series might have the fortune of covering more material--then I read that it's actually a whole new take on the story which makes it even more intriguing to me. Should definitely be something to check out!

Man, Netflix is putting a lot of cash into Korean productions. Not that it’s a bad thing, just very noticeable.
The work tends to be good quality so I’m intrigued. |

I could see this Korean version's story fitting in as a kind of spinoff series set within the Parasyte universe. Similar to shows like the Korean adaptation of Money Heist (the Korean team is inspired by the events of their Spanish counterparts). |

Why make completely different story and simply not adapt THE SOURCE MATERIAL? It is so difficult for them? I don't understand.

Wow, I never expected that Parasyte to be getting a Korean adaptation, that's really unexpected. But then again, South Korea's drama has been getting into sci-fi and borderline tokusatsu territory (yes, for the last few years South Korea has also been making K-dramas that is not romance melodrama, or rom-com). So this might not surprised some people if they've been following trends in K-dramas.
Netflix has already taking K-drama seriously, and if you've been paying attention like Squid Game, Crash Landing on You, and now Extraordinary Lawyer Woo is getting a lot of attention in the US/west for the last 2 weeks. It even outperformed Netflix's Sandman, and I'm not making this up. Netflix is not the only one trying to cash in on the K-drama fad, Disney+ is doing it too. Even HBO Max is getting into the K-drama/K-pop thing too: K-Pop Latin American Boy Band Competition Series In The Works At HBO Max New HBO Max Series "Beyond the Wardrobe" to Star K-Pop Idols Lee Si Young Joins Park Shi Hoo In Talks For Korean Adaptation Of “The Mentalist” coming to HBO Max (Reddit confirmed that the K-drama remake adaptation will come to HBO Max) So yes, K-drama is a very serious stuff hence why K-dramas (along with K-pop) are getting more attention in the US more then ever. |

They're adapting the general premise, which is fine. It's not difficult, but I don't see why they have to do it the exact way that it is in the manga. And I dunno how it ruins the series tbh |

Yea and I’m glad to see it.some Kdrama and shows are the top of what I’ve seen on Netflix. The only reason I keep Netflix is the diverse shows from other countries. Not to say it’s all good, but it’s nice to have a place to see the shows I wouldn’t have access to otherwise. |

You've had an anime adaptation, and 2 live action movies. Is that not enough? I don't see why not do something new with the premise. Parasyte is essentially Invasion of the Body Snatchers but in Japan. You could tell so many other stories in other places because you'd have to assume they landed all over Earth. |

Parasyte already has plenty of manga spin-offs, and anime that adapts the source for fans of the original story, I don't see why having one more spin-off is bad in any way, especially if it has a chance to be a good story. |
