Why not just call it Part 3 and Part 4? This is so baffling lol.

The way the Japanese is written using 前編 ・後編 definitely implies special broadcast in 2 halves / not weekly. Obviously how long each part is remains to be seen....

Sailor Moon Cosmos uses the same terminology to imply 2 parts.

Attack on Titan - Final Season - Part 3 - Cour 1 of 2.

It's absolutely crazy how Pony Canyon and co are delaying the inevitable.

Cour is not the correct term here - cour implies broadcast over multiple weeks which this is not.

Attack On Titan Final Season Part 3 - Sub Part A
Attack On Titan Final Season Part 3 - Sub Part B

I understand, but it was a joke. A "bad" one, but a joke nonetheless.

Well you would hope the answer is because MAPPA is bringing their A game to this and we're not going to see some of the loose / lack lustre animation that we saw in Part 2 in the back end.

Then again who knows.....MAPPA is 150% loaded with work isnt it ? Maybe too much in their queue ?

I agree. The first problem was the time lag between the first and second seasons and now the issue is the refusal to actually end the show. I fully expect a message at the end of "Part 2" to say, "But wait... there's more!"

They decided to split it in two parts because they need more time to animate. Source: https://twitter.com/MAPPA_Info/status/1615273706049400832?t=zaGJIjefMlYoIGKA1N58ng&s=19

Let's hope this means they are bringing their A-game to every frame of animation and no loose keyframes..

Gesus man, the whole season is parts among parts, it is going to confuse a ton amount of people.

They really should of just named them s4,5,6,7 etc they really underestimated how much time and effort is needed to make this. I hope the western release is not as confusing as this.

This was supposed to be a joke, Mappa! We don't really need a part of a season to be split into more parts. We were joking! Anime hyper

On a serious note, I guess they took the middle option between another TV format and a movie. I never believed that part 3 would be a full 12 episodes season considering that they have so few chapters left to adapt. I honestly was baffled that they didn't went with a movie considering how few the chapters that are left. But a 2-part OVA also makes sense, I guess. I do hope that they are lengthy. Maybe 50-60 minutes each. I really don't want them cutting content out for the sake of runtime.

I was definitely confused as someone who hasn't read the source. I foolishly thought "Final Season" mean it was the final season. Not fourth from the final season. Then I even more foolishly got burned again when the Final Season came back thinking that maybe it was suppose to be a final season but split cour.

I'm definitely ignoring this now until I hear the thing is finally over. As it is, this has kind of ruined my experience with the franchise. I keep expecting resolution then end up extremely disappointed. I know in my head that it isn't a problem with the material, but the emotion I most associate with AoT now is disappointment.

Funnily enough, if they just called season 4 "The Final Season Part 1" instead of just The Final Season, no one would clown on them nearly as much, even if they still pulled this crap.
