Okay, at this point I think it's a safe assumption that there's going to a season 2 now, so far the pacing seems to be pretty okay and not a massive blitz through, like it's fast but no so fast that it ruins anything, at the rate they're going I think it's a safe assumption they'll likely just go up to Kyoto this season and then do the final arc in season 2

They definitely can't do the Jinchuu arc in S2. Even if S1 gets to the departure for Kyoto, RK96 still took 31 episodes to animate the rest of Kyoto (minus the lead-up). I'm predicting S1 will get all of Tokyo and up to the departure, S2 will be all of Kyoto up to its epilogue, and S3 will be Rembrance and Jinchuu.

Pretty sure I read that season 1 is getting 24 episodes. That's enough time for Saito to show up and all the set up for the Kyoto arc. It's nice that this series doesn't have to worry about filler episodes or scenes, since literally the entire story is completed.

Saito has already appeared in the opening and a flashback so I'm pretty sure the anime will adapt Kyoto. Jinchu though might depend on the series' success due to Liden's plan to end it in 24 episodes. I mean even Blade of the Immortal had some pacing issues common in reboots but so far this remake stayed true to the original concept but by toning down the humor gags.

The most common gags are done in the Aniplex previews where the cast downright break the fourth wall over and over to the point in one Kaoru says Kenshin should call himself Vagabond or Samurai X

I don't think "Liden's plan" is exactly what's happening here. Urusei Yatsura is already taking it's airing spot on Fuji TV's Noitamina block, so I feel that if it didn't exist, then they probably could've tried to adapting everything in one go as a long airing series.

Yeah this, I think it was a given that it would be 3 seasons for both a decent adaptations and to help with sales. S2 is definitely all of Kyoto as in the original series the end of Kyoto got to like episode 60ish? All up 3x 2 cour seasons would be enough to adapt everything surely, especially with all the action scenes.

This new batch of episodes is gonna be fun though.

It could be followed by a S4 Hokkaido arc.

After how well they did the Jin-e arc, I can't wait to see the Oniwanbanshu fights, especially Aoshi.

Everyone seems well cast.

I haven't read any of Hokkaido, yet. But I feel Jinchuu gave good enough closure, that they could just stop there. I think Tokyo through Jinchuu is plenty of story to tell. And if Watsuki ever finishes Hokkaido, then they can add it, later.

So far the new anime is following the original anime exactly in terms of episode count. The first 12 episodes will all be canon. There were 10 filler episodes during episodes 13-27. 28-62 is Kyoto arc with zero filler. So assuming the new anime maintains the same pace my guess is with the 10 filler episodes removed you can adapt all the way through the Kyoto arc in 52 episodes. (13 per cour for 4 cours)

Assuming they continue and complete the manga which I really hope they do, I’m thinking they can probably do it in 34 episodes or thereabouts. So 86 episodes total maybe? Seems doable and less than original 95.

I personally don’t care about the Hokkaido arc. I just want the original manga fully adapted.

It's complete for the original run. There's the Hokkaido arc stuff which is well after it but it probably won't be animated anytime soon.
