Sounds like a helluva stretch. But if they could do it with the Hobbit movies...I wonder if they'll get the new DB, too.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Sand Land cancelled?

Doesn’t Crunchyroll have the license for DB? then again with it being a new series it could count as its own thing.

No, Toriyama only did series that were a tankoban long after Dragon Ball. Jaco, Cowa, Sandland. Just small one off stories.

That's certainly a misleading title by animenewsnetwork.com. The so called new series is just the movie recut into a series with some newly added scenes ala Demon Slayer Mugen Train.

If machine translation isn't failing on me then the tweet also mentions a new story alongside the new cuts.

So basically this will be the equivalent of getting the movie in the West?

Uh, no? It was supposed to be a one-volume deal, like Jaco.
Toriyama would never commit to a long-running series after DB.

Probably not. I'll be surprised if we don't get the movie too. This sounds more like what DBSuper did with the those first two modern movies, remake them (or in this case, recut with movie footage?) into the beginning of the show and then continue from there with new content.

Araki: Well, long-running series not DQ, anyway.

Even if that would be the case it wouldn’t obvious he called a movie still.

Gundam Unicorn was originally an ova that was then cut up into a TV series we’ve also had the inverse happen where a TV anime was compiled into a compilation film.

They had a demo at NYCC last month. Think that Mad Max game with Toriyama’s sense of styling and characters.
