I can't wait to see Mike Toole's reaction to this. He's arguably the biggest Kaiji fan around here. Smile

The first season was fantastic and one of the most underrated shows of '06. To see the second season means a lot more gambling, a lot more crying and a lot more...Zawas... Razz

Soooooooooo very happy right now. Very Happy Hopefully Taniuchi Hideki will be on music duty again. While most of his soundtracks sound very similar, he is my favorite anime composer over the last 5 years.

So wait, you mean in this upcoming Spring season we get Toriko, Sket Dance, Ao no Exorcist, another season of Ring ni Kakero 1, and now we also get another season of Kaiji?

THIS SEASON IS AWESOME!!!!

It certainly will be interesting to see how this season goes, since two-thirds of it is going be about Kaiji going against a pachinko machine from hell. Yes, it's as awesome as it sounds.

After seeing the whole series at my anime club, I always pondered if it'll really get a second series or suffer the same fate as Cinderella Boy(which hardly has any fans for it).

I wonder what my old anime club president would react if he heard about this, cause I remenber it was one of the most anticipated series we watched back in 2008. Yet it seem like a long time ago.

Agreed. I hope we see all of it streaming here legally, though I have my doubts about Ring ni Kakero ever streaming here. I fear most licensers have bailed on anything sports. Sad

Ring Ni Kakero, Level E, Katte Ni Kaizo and now Kaiji!! Seems like there is a trend for picking old niche titles! (Well not RnK since it was pretty popular) but horraay!! Its nice to see some not-moe shows Wink

Good news.

I don't really know if it would be possible to conclude the story in just one additional season, but it's still something that fans of the show have been waiting to hear for quite a while.

I remember there was mentioning of a Kaiji sequel in the works 1-2 years ago, and I had thought that after all this time with no word about it, it got quashed.

Good to hear that it's finally coming into fruition.

They announced a second season almost right after the first season finished back in 2008. The original announcement came straight from Fukumoto and Kaiji's seiyuu themselves, I think in a live-action promo piece that aried right after the last episode.

They sure did. The announcement you're thinking of was this, which did in fact air right after the final episode.

A friend of mine told me that he thought Madhouse had scrapped the project because Kaiji had not proven to be lucrative enough and, times being what they are, sometimes you can't produce art for art's sake. Whether my friend was right or wrong, I dunno, but one thing I know ...

I'm now looking forward to the Spring 2011 season. Very Happy

OMG, I can't believe it's actually gotten another Season!

It was arguably one of the only great shows in the last 4 years with an amazing plot and story.

....however, did anyone else lawl at the tissue ad next to this news report?
