So it's an "enhanced" port of a PC version rather then a remake (as in not redesigning the game, updating the cutscene with cutting CG like what Halo 2 got when they remade it). That is a bit disappointing but at least purists will be crying in joy.

People keep throwing money at every port they make,so they have no reason to remake it.

Seriously, you can just take Pong, recolor the paddles to look like Cloud and Sephiroth, call it Final Fanasty: Ultimate Battle, slap a $50 price-tag on it, and people would eat it up like Quina eats frogs. Kinda sad really.

(A cookie to whoever can guess where I got that from)

If Quina eats too many frogs, the frog well goes dry. SE doesn't seem to have that same problem when flooding the market.

Not that I mind in the least. /buys Very Happy

I wonder if it will be like the Steam port with achievements and everything.

Judging how this will be on PS4, it looks like this game may have trophies which is standard on all PS4 games.

sigh feels like im watching a real life rendition of "shut up and take my money"

now I've never played final fantasy VII but I've watched advent children and i loved it. then i decided to play the original game. saw the gameplay graphics and was like nope.

i didn't grow up with the game so the allure of the game wasnt so strong that id buy and play it if it came on a current gen system. If it were an enhanced remake along the lines of resident evil i'd definitely get it but sadly it seems that square loves producing this specific game, with little enhancements(they also love reproducing the same series too like KH).

my 2 cents is if you got a friend with the game, ask em to borrow it and play to your hearts content. or in this specific situation find an emulator and a rom or crack the pc version and play that. I usually dont condone piracy but where exactly will your money be going if you buy this game? to the company that supports it? Yes, but will they in turn use this money to say produce a better version of the game, a new FF or a new series? Probably not its just beating a dead horse but this is a zombie horse so you get some reaction. if they stop making money on old games they might just maybe put all their effort into making new games like say KH3?

This is like when someone buys you a pen for Christmas but wraps it up in a huge box so that it looks like something else. so thought they were gonna announce a remake.

trololo!

I loved the reactions on that video.

Truly, SE are unsurpassed at actively trying to piss off what few fans they have left.

I laughed so hard when it just ended up being yet another port. Why even bother to announce that at a big event anyway?

You know, I wouldn't be laughing so hard if this was a real re-release. The PS3/PS Vita/PSP is downloadable for only 10 dollars. Even the physical game disk is only around 30 dollars which still can be played on the PS3.

I can understand bringing this game to the PS4 on the PSN Network, but bring the other titles that are already on the PSN Store. From what I read the new PC version adds nothing new and big to the game aside for a few bullet points.

I understand the appeal to FFVII since it was most likely the first FF and RPG people played and it is a really good game (though FFVI is still my favorite) but it is still a bit of mess with the story. That being said, I still have my PS1 disk so I don't think I'll pick this up anytime soon (first I need to get a PS4)

We are sorry to inform you all FF7 fans, but we are to lazy to make a remake and is not money maker, so play our new game FFV or FFIV Online, they are the money makers. Twisted Evil
