Honestly, I think both the main arcs of SAO II (Especially Mother's Rosario) are leaps and bounds better than the first series. But I'm not sure whether the anime community at large agrees.
Granted, a lot the negativity towards SAO II was even more uncalled for than it was with the first series. |

Damn, I was hoping Kashiwada would drop some suggestive hints about an adaptation of the Alicization arc for SAO III. Oh well, I'm sure SAO III isn't too far off anyways. Wouldn't be surprised if Extra Edition 2 is coming out around December time this year like EE1 was in Dec. 2013 which had the SAO II announcement.

Well most of those shows are slated for this Summer and Fall. I'm not really expecting a new SAO season until Summer 2016 similar to s1 being Summer 2012 and s2 being Summer 2014. |

Yeah... somebody else might have asked something like " why is SAO always losing quality on it's second half (more on the first Season)?" And about "Alicization" I have to say that Aincrad arc and Alicization Arc are my favorites by FAR coming Mother's Rosario Arc in third place. I think that the sales are the thing that will probably stop the third season because story wise... the web novel already finished and the LN is on Volume 15 (I think). ........................................ spoiler[PS: Alice is love. No, I'm pretty sure that's not what makes SAO II good. lol I prefer the atmospheres and settings of both Aincrad and ALO over Gun Gale. But Gun Gale has a much more interesting heroines with real problems that people can relate to and they were able to interact with a boy yet NOT be made into more love interests. That is why SAO II is good. |

While I think this interview is fine (if not simply very typical) we did have another half-dozen questions or so I really wish we'd have been given time to ask. All questions are also put through an approval process with the guest's handlers beforehand. |

I don't know if it was intentional, but I found it funny how in the question about SAO II > SAO I, Kashiwada just completely avoided mentioning Fairy Dance, which is I think, the one that's considered the worse by most of the fandom afaik.
Can't help feeling mildly bothered that he implied how GGO was more popular just because Murricans love 'em some guns. I was not excited about GGO because I actually find fantasy/magic settings much more exciting than people shooting at each other, but the writing in GGO and Sinon's character completely trumped anything else S1 did. I honestly didn't expect to like it, given how much I ended up hating S1 and it was a really pleasant surprise. |

Yeah, that one bothered me a bit, too. If I look at the U.S. from an outsider's perspective, though - and especially from the perspective of a citizen of a country where firearm access is tightly-restricted, like Japan is - I can certainly understand how one might get that impression. |

i agree with you on the fact that the story was much better but i think he was also saying it from the japonese point of view... And kirito, the sword maniac, going around with a gun probably atracted a lot of atention. |

It's a stereotype of America given the gun culture, movies, and video games. If pressed for a quick answer, it's easy to pick out something like this especially if no specific research has been done on the subject.
