Once Gainax loses Panty and Stocking, they really will have lost everything.

Whoa....WHOA!!!!
I have got to see where this goes. FLCL is a gem, I can't imagine a new version from I.G. but I like the sound of more crazy animation and puberty metaphors.

This is an interesting development.
I recall hearing years ago, after the huge success the original saw, that Adult Swim tried to get a sequel produced. They never quite got all their ducks in a row, and the idea eventually fell through.
I wonder if I.G. might take a swing (pun intended) at a sequel too.

Welp, that came out of nowhere. I'm curious what I.G will do with it. I love the OVA's because of how absurd it is.
They better get the pillows back for the music.

Well better Production I.G. than anyone else, I suppose. Still...
If they turn it into a 12 episode late night TV shitfest, I'll renounce anime entirely.

I am curious to see the results. I do hope it does make justice to the original though.

That is just weird... Why not make a sequel instead of a remake? A prequel with Eyebrows as the main character would make more sense also.
The remake is just going to drag stuff out then I guess? It is like someone said "You know Hemingway's short story 'The Snows of Kilimanjaro' was great, lets buy the rights and rewrite it as a novel!"

Production I.G. are really the only studio I have hope in anymore. Hearing now that they've got FLCL AND Galactic Heroes has me incredibly happy. Now for the Vinland Saga rumor theories to come true.......

Things it needs for a remake:
Expanded and more detailed story. Have some sort of epilogue and maybe a prequel
The Pillows for the soundtrack
The Pillows coming back for the soundtrack
Did I mention the Pillows need to come back for the soundtrack because they're freakin awesome?

It's not the "remake" I'm focusing on, it's the "Other ventures".
Which is what US companies say every time another one buys up the Terminator franchise and hopes for new sequels.
Sounds like Gainax was selling off its old scrap, and IG hoped to get a garage sale bargain and exploit it for turnaround, no matter how old and expired the property was.
Some like it, but FLCL still has too much of the "Cartoon Network loved this show, because they were wishfully convinced it was on drugs" stink to it, that made Space Dandy look witty and disciplined. What's worse is, they may have been right.

Production I.G could most definitely be either making or breaking the fandom depending on how the FLCL remake would turn out.

What world have you been living on? Production I.G is probably the most respected anime studio by North America fans.

That's POSSIBLE???? I didn't even know you could do that. Still, rather interesting series to pick. I don't even know how you could do a remake.

A sequel, yes. A remake... Oh, *Hell* no.
FLCL is perfect just the way it is. There is no need for a remake.
But, yes, I wouldn't mind seeing a sequel to FLCL. It *could* fall flat on its face, but then again, it could actually be a worthy addition to what's already out there. But I view the whole thing with a great deal of trepidation. I hope Production I.G. can pull it off.
Swing the bat, Production I.G.

Weren't there 2 volumes of the manga, and only the first volume was animated?
