cours

: クール (kūru)
A measurement of the length of a television series. A one-season series (of generally 13 weekly episodes) is described as being "one cours" long, while a two-season series (of generally 26 episodes) would be described as "two-cours."

Although generally 13 episodes, the exact number of episodes in a cours can vary. It is often between 11 and 14 episodes, with 13 episodes being the most common count.

According to Japanese dictionaries, the term originated from the French word "cours," meaning "lesson." (Note: the French word "cours" does not mean "course" as in a "one-course meal." The singular form of "cours" is not "cour.")
