Japanese Fans Rank 2015's Best Anime Songs

posted on by Eric Stimson
Songs with "shine" do well

Fans of anime songs had plenty to listen to in 2015, with over 40 anime running each season and over 300 songs released to accompany them. The Japanese anime site Anime! Anime! ran an online poll from December 17 to 24 to determine the top ten anime songs of 2015. It received responses from 550 people, half of whom were in their 10s. Idol anime and other programs dealing with music did especially well, with Wake Up, Girls! snagging two spots.

Here are the results:

  1. "Sugar Song to Bitter Step," Unison Square Garden (Blood Blockade Battlefront)
  2. "Hanamaru Pippi wa Yoiko Dake," AŌP (Mr. Osomatsu)
  3. "Bravely You," Lia (Charlotte)
  4. "Beyond the Bottom," Wake Up, Girls! (Wake Up, Girls!)
  5. "Shōjo Kōkyōkyoku" (Girl Symphony), Wake Up, Girls! (Wake Up, Girls!)
  6. "Maji Love Revolutions," ST☆RISH (Utano☆Princesama Revolutions)
  7. "Shine," Mamoru Miyano (Utano☆Princesama Revolutions)
  8. "Pride Kakumei" (Pride Revolution), CHICO with Honeyworks (Gintama)
  9. "Shine!!," Cinderella Project (The IDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls)
  10. "Brave Shine," Aimer (Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works)

"Sugar Song to Bitter Step" also topped the Hot Animation of the Year 2015 Billboard chart, although otherwise the lists diverge. For ANN's Hope Chapman's picks for the year's top opening themes, see The Set List.
