Most Prolific Voice Actors of Summer Anime Season 2018

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Last season welcomed the reign of voice actors Yūichi Nakamura and Yuuki Kaji. Both voice actors appeared eight different anime series with respective roles in The Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Die Neue These, High School DxD Hero, and Food Wars! The Third Plate. For this season, Anime Times created a list by name so fans can easily find where they can hear their favorite voice actor. Coincidentally, this also reveals which actors have the most roles this season. Let's take a look

The most popular male voice actor this season is Takahiro Sakurai, perhaps best known as Griffith in the most recent Berserk television anime, Francis F. in Bungo Stray Dogs, and Izumo Kusanagi in the K anime franchise. This season, Sakurai is starring in eight different anime series. He plays Orion in 100 Sleeping Princes and the Kingdom of Dreams: The Animation, the killer Danny in Angels of Death, the tastily named Bacon in Zoids Wild, Vlad Garfunkel in Phantom in the Twilight, Unagi-Inu in the comedy remake Shinya! Tensai Bakabon, Mikhail in the vampire versus werewolves series Sirius the Jaeger, Satarō in the supernatural Tsukumogami Kashimasu, and Director Resapada is the short and cute Hataraku Oniisan! no 2! Animate Times doesn't list Sakurai's roles as Gilkunif in the next season of Overlord or his role as Helper T Cell in Cells at Work!, effectively raising his count from eight to 10.

Falling close behind Sakurai are Rikiya Koyama and Satoshi Hino with six roles each. In third is Tomokazu Sugita with five roles.

Female voice actors are caught in a three-way tie for first place. Mikako Komatsu (pictured left), Yumiri Hanamori, and M.A.O are all tied with five roles each this season. Komatsu is starring as Penne in Zoids Wild, Miyako Tarōmaru in the badminton anime Hanebad!, Kano in the historic war drama Angolmois: Genkō Kassen-ki, Okō in Tsukumogami Kashimasu, and the eye-patch donning servant Oboro in Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs.

Hanamori is relatively new to the voice acting scene. She made her debut in a supporting role in Aiura in 2013 before eventually starring at the titular Anne in Anne-Happy in 2016. This season you find her in Overlord III, Oshiete Mahō no Pendulum: Rilu Rilu Fairilu as the fairy Lip, the yuri horror series Happy Sugar Life as Asahi Kōbe, the isekai anime Seven Senses of the Reunion as Nozomi Kusaka, and in the third season of The Idolm@ster Cinderella Girls Gekijō as Shin Sato.

M.A.O isn't a newbie by any means. She's reprising her role Yui Hanasaka in the first-person anime One Room: Second Season, and is also appearing in Gonzo's Calamity of the Zombie Girl as Yui Minagawa, the monster Bete in Jashin-chan Dropkick, Eosinophil in Cells at Work!, the third season of The Idolm@ster Cinderella Girls Gekijō as Fumika Sagisawa.
