Shueisha and Kodansha's Biggest Manga Stars Appear in 30-Meter Mural in Shibuya Station

posted on by Kim Morrissy

Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump and Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine recently collaborated on a 30-meter mural showing off iconic characters from both magazines. This mural was displayed in Shibuya station from May 6 to 12.

The collaboration is part of the "Shōnen Jumaga Gakuen" project, and the image shows all the characters interacting in one giant academy. This is what parts of the mural looked like during the days it was public. If you look closely, you may be able to spot all of the 120 characters that are said to be featured in it.

Last month, Weekly Shonen Jump and Weekly Shōnen Magazine merged for a 2,264-page issue with a 13-cm wide spine, featuring the opening chapters for 44 individual manga series from Weekly Shonen Jump and Weekly Shōnen Magazine.

Kodansha and Shueisha opened a site for Shōnen Jumaga Gakuen on April 8. The website asks for participant's date of birth and is only open to readers under the age of 23. The website frames itself as an actual school where all the learning materials are manga magazines.
