Kadokawa Begins COMIC it Magazine For Women in Early 2015

Utao Yukihiro's Shōnen Ōjo manga, 2 other series from Sylph move to new magazine aimed at otaku women

KADOKAWA ASCII Media Works announced on Wednesday that it will begin publishing a new monthly manga magazine aimed at women early next year. The magazine, titled COMIC it, is being aimed at "adult otaku women" in their 20's and 30's. The manga serialized will only be original works, but will not just be romance. Instead, the manga will focus on pleasing women who like manga.

Kadokawa also announced that Utako Yukihiro's Shōnen Ōjo manga will resume serialization in the new magazine, as will Yoko Fujiya's Hiso Hiso -silent voice and Eri Sakondo's Hakase ga-!!. All three manga had previously been serialized in Kadokawa Ascii Works' Monthly Sylph magazine.

COMIC it will also have an online and smartphone app version, and the three series that are moving magazines are already available to read on the website up to chapter three. The iOS app is scheduled to be released soon.

Utako Yukihiro had announced last month that she would be resuming her Shōnen Ōjo manga, and had stated that she'd be able to give further details later. Yukihiro put the series on hiatus in April 2013, and ASCII Media Works shipped the third compiled volume last August. The story revolves around Albert, a slave who is sold to the princess and heir to the kingdom. It turns out that he is to act as the body double of the princess and dress up like a girl, since he looks almost exactly like her.

Yukihiro also pens the Devils and Realist manga, which Seven Seas Entertainment publishes in English in North America. She is also writing the Uta no Prince-sama manga, which adapts Broccoli's franchise of dating games for women.
