Re-Kan! Horror Comedy Anime's Comiket Video Profiles Characters

posted on by Egan Loo
Ibuki Kido, Miku Itō, Riho Iida, M.A.O, Erii Yamazaki star in anime of 4-panel manga

The official website for the anime of Hinako Seta's four-panel manga Re-Kan! began streaming a promotional video on Sunday. The same video debuted at Comic Market 87 earlier in the day. It introduces the story and characters in the "heartwarming anime about a spirit-sensing girl who is kind to both humans and spirits."

The manga centers around Hibiki Amami, a girl who can see ghosts and other supernatural phenomena in her surroundings. The stories follow her daily life with both her friends and the otherworldly.

The cast includes:

Ibuki Kido (Tokyo ESP's Rinka) as Hibiki Amami, the polite, low key, and slightly air-headed main character. She is also a yamato nadeshiko (a woman who displays traditional Japanese feminine virtues). Although she has the ability to sense the supernatural, she is always worrying about what's around her rather than worrying about herself.

Miku Itō (Locodol's Nanako Usami) as Narumi Inōe, Amami's classmate. She hates ghosts and scary stories and often picks fights with Amami. She's a grandma's girl.

Riho Iida (Love Live! School idol project's Rin) as Kana Uehara, a girl whose blog is #1 on the occult blog ranking. She's very curious about Amami's ability.

M.A.O (Gonna be the Twin-Tail!!'s Mikoto) as Kyōko Esumi, Uehara's childhood friend. She's a reformed delinquent but she still has a rough personality. On the inside she's very compassionate and can't turn her back on anyone in trouble.

Erii Yamazaki (World Conquest Zvezda Plot's Roboko) as Makoto Ogawa, a person with a bright personality who is also a bit of an airhead. A girl... maybe.

Masashi Kudo (Hayate the Combat Butler, Bleach animation director) will direct the anime at Pierrot Plus, Takashi Aoshima (YuruYuri, Mitsudomoe) will supervise the series scripts, and Aoi Yamamoto (Fairy Tail) will design the characters.

The Tokuma Japan Communications and TBS booths gave away "Re-Kan-badges" (metal badges) at Comic Market 87. Tokuma Japan Communications also sold scarf towels, t-shirts, heart-shaped chiropractic heating aids, canned bread, and a drum set collecting these items.

Seta started the manga as a one-shot story in Manga Time Jumbo in 2009, and then turned it into a regular series in 2010. Houbunsha published the fourth compiled book volume in October 2013.

The anime will premiere next spring.
