Director Makoto Shinkai Storyboarding New Film

Anime director Makoto Shinkai (Voices of a Distant Star, The Place Promised in Our Early Days, 5 Centimeters Per Second, Children Who Chase Lost Voices from Deep Below, The Garden of Words) reported on his blog on New Year's Eve that he was spending the day drawing storyboards for a new film. He added that he wants to make a work that is more enjoyable, more beautiful, and more further beyond any work he has made so far. He plans to spend 2015 working only on this film, and even though it has not been unveiled yet, he asks his fans to look forward to it.
CoMix Wave Inc. released his last film, The Garden of Words, in 2013. Shinkai worked on a series of commercials for the construction company Taisei, the Bosporus Strait Tunnel and Sri Lanka freeway, and one for The Shinano Mainichi Shimbun paper from his hometown.
