The Asterisk War Anime's 2nd Promo Video Reveals Cast

Shiena Nishizawa, Maaya Sakamoto perform theme songs; video game announced

The official website for the television anime adaptation of author Yuu Miyazaki and illustrator okiura's The Asterisk War: The Academy City on the Water (Gakusen Toshi Asterisk) light novel series began streaming the show's second promotional video on Sunday.


The video reveals the show's main cast:

Shiori Izawa as Saya Sasamiya


Ari Ozawa as Kirin Todo


The official website has also revealed that Shiena Nishizawa will perform the opening theme song, and Maaya Sakamoto will perform the ending theme song. The website also announced that the franchise is getting a video game adaptation, but added that the site will reveal the game's genre and devices at a later date.

Aniplex previously revealed the story and staff in April:

In the previous century, humanity was attacked by an unprecedented disaster... The impact "Invertia." The whole world was destroyed. However, humans acquired a new potential..."The Genestella."

Manabu Ono (A-Channel, Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere, The irregular at magic high school, Saki) is serving as general director of the series at A-1 Pictures. Kenji Seto (Wooser no Sono Higurashi Kakusei-hen, assistant director on A-Channel and Saki) is directing the series, Tetsuya Kawakami (Nanana's Buried Treasure, Robot Girls Z, Shigofumi - Letters from the Departed, Toei Robot Girls) is handling the character designs and serving as animation director, Rasmus Faber (Lagrange - The Flower of Rin-ne theme songs) is composing the music, and Flying Dog is producing the music.

The battle-action anime series will premiere in Japan this October.

Miyazaki launched the novel series in 2012, and Media Factory published the eighth volume on May 25. The light novels have inspired a manga by Ningen that currently has two compiled volumes in print, as well as the Gakusen Toshi Asterisk Gaiden: Queenveil no Tsubasa spinoff manga by Shō Akane that currently has one volume in print.
