Rewrite Anime Confirms Return of Game Cast With Video, Visual

posted on by Egan Loo

The official website for the television anime of the Rewrite visual novel posted a promotional video and new visual on Tuesday. The same video debuted at Comic Market 89 on Tuesday.

The video confirms that the software's voice cast is returning for the anime:

The original 2011 Rewrite visual novel takes place in Kazamatsuri, a fictional city where civilization and greenery co-exist. Within it, players assume the role of student Kotaro Tennoji and interact with his fellow classmates Kotori Kanbe, Chihaya Ohtori, Akane Senri, Sizuru Nakatsu, and Lucia Konohana (voiced by Chiwa Saito, Saya Shinomiya, Eri Kitamura, Keiko Suzuki, and Risa Asaki, respectively).

The anime will premiere next summer.

Tensho (Kinmoza! Kiniro + Mosaic, The Fruit of Grisaia) is directing the anime at 8-Bit and also supervising the series scripts. Romeo Tanaka (Cross Channel scenario, Humanity Has Declined) and Visual Art's KAI (Clannad scanrio, Grim Reaper Kyou) are credited with collaborating on the composition and scripts. Masayuki Nonaka (Hello!! KINMOZA chief animation director, The Fruit of Grisaia main animator) is adapting the game's original character designs by Key/Visual Art's Itaru Hinoue (Kanon, Air, Clannad, Little Busters!) for animation.

Itaru Hinoue (AIR, Kanon, CLANNAD) served as the game's project creator and main illustrator. Romeo Tanaka, Ryukishi07 (Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, Umineko no Naku Koro ni) and Yūto Tonokawa (Little Busters!) wrote the game's storyline scenarios. Jun Maeda (AIR, CLANNAD, Angel Beats!) was involved with Rewrite's musical compositions and quality control.

The Rewrite Harvest festa! fan disc, written by the game's original team of Tanaka, Ryukishi07, and Tonokawa, featured various additional stories involving the heroines of the original game, and both were illustrated by Key artist Itaru Hinoue. The original game was also ported to the PSP and PS Vita systems in 2014, followed by a PlayStation 3 version this past February.
