The sixth volume of Natsume Ono's Futagashira manga announced that the manga will end with its seventh volume this fall. Shogakukan released the sixth volume on Tuesday.
A live-action adaptation of the manga ran from June to July last year on the WOWOW channel. A second season was announced on January 5.
The story is set in the Edo period and centers around two men who have left their thieving ring, the "Akame Gang," to strike out on their own journey.
Ono launched the historical manga series in Shogakukan's Monthly Ikki magazine in May 2011. After Shogakukan suspended publication of Monthly Ikki in 2014, Futagashira resumed publication in Shogakukan's new magazine Hibana starting in March 2014.
Since she made her debut in 2003 with La Quinta Camera - 5 Banme no Heya, Ono's works have included House of Five Leaves, Ristorante Paradiso, Gente - Ristorante no Hitobito, Tesoro, and Not Simple. Viz Media published all of these titles in North America. Kodansha Comics also published Ono's Danza manga in English. Other manga by Ono include ACCA 13-Ku Kansatsu-Ka, the House of Five Leaves spinoff manga Kozure Dōshin, and Lady and Oldman.
Both Ristorante Paradiso and House of Five Leaves have been adapted into late-night television anime series in Japan.
