Luce Twinkle Wink☆ sings "1st Love Story" for anime debuting on April 7

The official website for the television anime of Shibai Kineko's Netoge no Yome wa Onna no ko ja Nai to Omotta? (And you thought there is never a girl online?) light novels began streaming a promotional video on Tuesday. The video previews the opening theme song "1st Love Story" by the five-member idol group Luce Twinkle Wink☆.

Hideki: I had stopped believing in women in online games, but now I've got an online game wife!? So, I figured "Well, it's probably just a guy," but...
Ako: I'm... Ako...
Hideki: She's a super cute girl!! But...
Ako: Yes! We got married, right?
Hideki: She's a disappointing beauty who has trouble discerning the line between games and reality! Aw crap, I've gotta do something fast, or my reality's going to die! I start my activities in the guild to make my wife Ako into a normal person! Our fun and bright online game life starts now! Netoge no Yome wa Onna no ko ja Nai to Omotta?. Starting broadcasts on April 7, 2016!

The story centers on Hideki Nishimura, a young man who confessed to a person he thought was a girl online, only for that person to turn out to be a boy. He keeps this "black history" secret and swears to never to trust a "girl" online again. However, one day a girl online confesses to him, and it turns out she's actually a beautiful girl named Ako Tamaki. Ako cannot tell the difference between the online world and reality, and she is a loner who has trouble communicating. Hideki and his friends from his guild decide to work together to "correct" her.

The anime's main cast includes:

Toshiyuki Toyonaga (Durarara!!'s Mikado Ryūgamine) as Hideki Nishimura / Lucian

Rina Hidaka (Sword Art Online's Silica) as Ako Tamaki / Ako

Inori Minase (School-Live!'s Yuki Takeya) as Akane Segawa / Schwein

M.A.O (Overlord's Enri Emmot) as Kyō Goshōin / Apricot

Hitomi Ohwada (Shirobako's Midori Imai) as Nanako Akiyama/Sette

Yoshino Nanjō (Love Live!'s Eli Ayase) as Yui Saitō/Nekohime

Shinsuke Yanagi (Ro-Kyu-Bu! SS, Momo Kyun Sword) is directing the anime at project No.9, and Tatsuya Takahashi (The IDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls, Atelier Escha & Logy: Alchemists of the Dusk Sky) is in charge of series composition.

The anime will premiere on the Tokyo MX channel at 11:30 p.m. on April 7. It will also premiere on the Sun TV and BS11 channels on April 7 at 26:00 and 24:30, respectively (effectively, on April 8 at 2:00 a.m. and 12:30 a.m.)

Kineko and illustrator Hisasi launched the series in 2013, and Kadokawa published the eighth light novel volume last August. Kazui Ishigami is drawing a manga adaptation in Dengeki G's Comic magazine, and Kadokawa released the second compiled volume last October.

Hisasi also created the Fighter character design for the Bikini Warriors television anime series, and he drew the Cute Devil Girlfriend adult manga that Digital Manga Inc.'s Project-H imprint published in North America.
