Crunchyroll Streams Gakuen Handsome Anime

posted on by Karen Ressler
Series premieres Monday

Crunchyroll announced on Sunday that it will stream the television anime adaptation of Tohoku Penet's Gakuen Handsome PC game. The first episode will premiere on Monday at 1:00 p.m. EDT. The stream will be available worldwide outside of Japan, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Macao.

The series will premiere on October 3 at 25:00 (effectively October 4 at 1:00 a.m.) on Tokyo MX and BS Fuji. Niconico's official "Gakuen Handsome Channel" will also stream each episode at noon the day after the anime airs on television.

Team YokkyuFuman and director Toneso Kiashi are returning from last year's Gakuen Handsome the Animation original video anime (OVA) to animate series. Kiashi is part of the team that designed the original game. The staff is planning 12 three-minute episodes, with an "episode 12.5" planned for a future DVD release.

The OVA's cast and the original game's cast will both be reprising their roles for two separate audio tracks. The main audio track will feature the anime's cast, while the second audio channel will feature the game's cast.

The original game's "school love story" is set at Baramon High School, a private boys' school for the prefecture's most elite. The protagonist transferred into the school and meets various major players on campus, such as the "outlaw teacher," the soccer captain, and a childhood friend whom the protagonist has not seen in seven years. The school presents opportunities for friendship, love, and conflict.
