Akashic Re:cords Smartphone Game's Anime Opening Movie Streamed

Square Enix began streaming the anime opening movie for its upcoming Akashic Re:cords iOS and Android smartphone game on Wednesday. The video previews the game's theme song "CATCH ME" by THE ORAL CIGARETTES.

Record of Lodoss War creator Ryo Mizuno is credited with the original work, with tabletop RPG writer Shunsaku Yano in charge of the scenario. Nakahara designed the characters, and Naoshi Mizuta is composing the music. Takaaki Hirayama (Ushio & Tora, Hunter × Hunter action animation director) is directing the animation at Studio VOLN.

The game is slated for release this year. The project is the first collaborative original work between Square Enix and Kadokawa.
