This year's summer issue of Shogakukan's CoroCoro Aniki magazine launched two new manga on Thursday for the Wixoss and BanG Dream! franchises. The official Twitter account for the magazine posted a preview image for the two manga on Thursday.

Nyaromeron is drawing the Banban Doridori manga. The series is a "surreal expansion four-panel manga" following female high school student Kasumi as she searches for things that are sparkling and heart-throbbing.

Bushiroad launched the BanG Dream! multimedia project in January 2015, and the company formed the Poppin' Party band for the project in February 2015. The band's members consist of voice actresses who portray the characters in the story, and they play the same instruments as their characters. The project also includes live performances. A 13-episode television series premiered in January.

Pop Team Epic manga creator Bkub Ōkawa is drawing the Wixoss manga, titled Aru Wixoss Shoshinsha ga Booster Pack wo Kattedatta Card kara 4-koma Manga wo Kaku 4-koma Manga (A 4-panel Manga Drawn From a Card That a Certain Wixoss Beginner Got From Buying a Booster Pack).

The toy and game maker Takara Tomy launched the WIXOSS (pronounced like "wi-cross") card game in April 2014. The Selector Infected Wixoss anime series also premiered that month, followed by a second season, Selector Spread Wixoss, in October of that same year. The Selector Destructed Wixoss anime film then opened in Japan in February 2016. The 12-episode Lostorage incited WIXOSS anime followed in October 2016. The Lostorage conflated WIXOSS anime project will debut this fall.

The summer issue also launched the prologue to a new manga inspired by the Maximum The Hormone band. Hideaki Fujii (Battle Spirits: Shōnen Toppa Bashin, LBX - Little Battlers eXperience, Shin Megamitensei DEVIL CHILDREN) is drawing the series. The band performed the second opening and ending theme songs for the Death Note anime series, and also performed an ending theme song for Air Master and an insert song for Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F'.
