posted on by Jennifer Sherman
Participation open to 14- to 18-year-old girls

Kadokawa and Production Ace announced on Thursday that they are holding the "Kashō Idol Seiyū" (Singing Idol Voice Actress) auditions for a new anime project. The winners will make their performing debuts as main characters in a new anime by Kadokawa. Production Ace will provide acting, singing, and dance lessons.

The project is seeking completely new talent with enthusiasm and dedication. The project's leader at Kadokawa hopes the winners will become like family with fellow members and staff.

Applicants must be girls between the ages of 14 and 18 years as of April 2, 2018. They must not be affiliated with any entertainment or training agency. They must live in Japan and have an interest in becoming voice actresses or voice actress singers.

The online application phase is open until February 28. The second phase of the auditions will be held in Tokyo on March 3, followed by the third phase in Tokyo on April 1. The final auditions are slated to be held in Tokyo in June.

Kadokawa also held child voice actor auditions last February. Hikari Okada, a first-year elementary school student, won the competition and played Elq-Hrqstn in the What do you do at the end of the world? Are you busy? Will you save us? (SukaSuka) anime.

Production Ace is a joint venture between Kadokawa and Amusement Media Sougou Gakuin. Production Ace opened a voice actor training school for elementary and junior high school students in 2015.
