Smartphone premieres on May 9, Sakura Quest on May 30

Animax Asia revealed on Wednesday that it will air the In Another World With My Smartphone and Sakura Quest anime series.

In Another World With My Smartphone will premiere on May 9, and Animax Asia will air two episodes every Wednesday and Thursday at 8:00 p.m. GMT +8.

The anime premiered in Japan last July.

Takeyuki Yanase (Himegoto, Onsen Yōsei Hakone-chan) directed the anime at Production Reed. Natsuko Takahashi (My Love Story!!) supervised and wrote the series scripts. Toshihide Masudate (Papillon Rose), Masahiro Sekiguchi (Rainbow Days chief animation director), and Miyako Nishida (Rainbow Days) were all credited as character designers and chief animation directors. Satoshi Shibata was the art director, while Aki Watanabe (Sound of the Sky, Rainbow Days) was the color designer. Takumi Itō (Pretty Rhythm Aurora Dream) was the sound director. EXIT TUNES was in charge of music production.

Digital publishing company J-Novel Club has been releasing chapters of the novel In Another World With My Smartphone weekly since February 2017, and is also releasing the volumes as e-books. The company describes the story:

After a freak accident involving some lightning winds up zapping him dead, 15-year-old Mochizuki Touya wakes up to find himself face-to-face with God. “I am afraid to say that I have made a bit of a blunder...” laments the old coot. But all is not lost! God says that he can reincarnate Touya into a world of fantasy, and as a bonus, he gets to bring his smartphone along with! So begins Touya's adventure in a new, anachronistic pseudo-medieval world. Friends! Laughs! Tears! Inexplicable Deus ex Machina! He sets off on a journey full of wonder as he absentmindedly travels from place to place, following whatever goal catches his fancy. The curtains lift on an epic tale of swords, sorcery, and smartphone apps!

Fuyuhara launched the In Another World With My Smartphone series in 2013 on the Shōsetsu-ka ni Narou ("Let's Be Novelists") website, and Hobby Japan's Novels label published the first volume with illustrations by Eiji Usatsuka in 2015. Hobby Japan published the 12th volume on March 22. The series has more than 200,000 copies in print.

Sakura Quest will premiere on May 30, and Animax Asia will air two episodes every Wednesday and Thursday at 8:00 p.m. GMT +8.

The anime premiered in Japan in April 2017.

P.A. Works describes the anime as the third in its "working" series about people and their jobs, after Hana-Saku Iroha and Shirobako. The story centers on five girls who work in the tourism bureau of their small rural town. The town revives its "micro-nation" tourism program, which originated from a nationwide movement during Japan's bubble economy period, and hires job hunting Yoshino Koharu as a "monarch" (tourism ambassador). The anime depicts one year in the job of five girls in the tourism industry, and shows how they change and grow.

"Alexandre S. D. Celibidache" was credited for the original work. Sōichi Masui (Chaika the Coffin Princess, Crayon Shin-chan: Arashi o Yobu Ōgon no Spy Daisakusen) directed the anime, and Masahiro Yokotani (Free! - Iwatobi Swim Club, The Devil Is a Part-Timer!, Re:Zero) supervised the series' scripts. BUNBUN (Yuki Yuna Is a Hero, Izetta: The Last Witch) designed the characters, and Kanami Sekiguchi (Hana-Saku Iroha, Shirobako, Charlotte) adapted those designs for animation.
