4-minute episodes from different staff focus on game's characters

NHN PlayArt and Nico Nico's #Compass [COMbat Providence AnalysiS System] smartphone game has been inspiring a series of four-minute anime shorts since August. TMS Entertainment is overseeing the production, but different staff members and studios are participating in the project. Each short highlights a different hero from the game.

Tetsuro Kodama (The Bears' School, Kubbe) directed and wrote the first short with animation from ECHOES, and it debuted on YouTube on August 22. The short focuses on Matoi Fukawa, a fireworks technician who looks up to her grandfather.

Shigeyuki Watanabe (Prologue of Blame!, Ikémen Sengoku: Bromances Across Time) wrote and directed the second short at TMS Jinni's, and it debuted on September 10. The short focuses on Voidoll, the AI in control of #Compass.

Watanabe also wrote and directed the third short at TMS Jinni's, and it debuted on October 6. The short focuses on Ririka, one of the main characters of the fictional magical girl show "Mahō Shōjo Ririka Ruruka."

#Compass is a three-versus-three capture the flag-style battle game. Players form teams of three by selecting from the game's roster of colorful characters and fight to capture checkpoints in a certain amount of time. The team that obtains control of the most checkpoints is declared the victor.

The iOS, Android, and Amazon app game is free to play with in-game item purchases. It has more than six million downloads.
