Hello Kitty Gets New 52-Episode Animated Series in 2021

France's Monello Productions animates new series with Sanrio

The French animation studio Monello Productions and Japanese licensing company Sanrio announced on February 6 that they are developing a new animated series based on Sanrio's Hello Kitty franchise. The World of Hello Kitty series is slated to debut in the first quarter of 2021 with 52 11-minute episodes.

Monello Productions describes the series:

The World of Hello Kitty will feature the famous titular character along with her friends from the Sanrio universe as they try to live in harmony in their not-so-quiet neighbourhood. Kitty's friends are all very different and they each have their little quirks, so their tight-knit community is often put to the test. But at the end of the day, Kitty always brings them back together, because she accepts her friends for who they are.

Kids First, a subsidiary of Monello Productions and Watch Next Media, will handle worldwide financing and distribution outside Asia, while ABC International, Asahi Broadcasting Corporation's international sales and distribution arm, will handle distribution in Asia.

Sentai Filmworks recently released the Hello Kitty & Friends – Let's Learn Together animated series as the first title in its new "Sentai Kids" imprint last year. Sanrio is also planning a new Hello Kitty film slated for this year.
