The staff of the Anpanman anime franchise revealed new visuals and the guest cast for Soreike! Anpanman Kirameke! Ice no Kuni no Vanilla-hime (Let's go! Anpanman: Sparkle! Princess Vanilla of the Land of Ice Cream), the 31st anime film in the franchise, on Friday.

Nana Eikura plays Princess Vanilla in the film. Miyazon and Arapon of the comedian duo Anzen Manzai also star in the film. Miyazon plays Minister Gelato, Princess Vanilla's teacher. Arapon plays Germ Ice Cream Robot, a giant robot that Baikinman creates.

The film will open on June 28, and celebrates what would have been the 100th birthday of Anpanman creator Takashi Yanase.

The film's story centers on Princess Vanilla, a princess in a land of ice cream, but who nevertheless is unable to create ice cream herself, no matter how much she practices every day. Finally fed up with her lack of ability, she flees her palace, and soon meets Anpanman and Kokin-chan. While traveling with them, she learns the reason why she can't create ice cream. Meanwhile, Baikinman attacks the land of ice cream while Princess Vanilla is missing.

The film will again feature sing-and-dance-along songs including "Te no Hira o Taiyō ni" and "Do Re Mi Fa Anpanman."

The Soreike! Anpanman television anime series began in 1988, and new Anpanman films have opened each summer since 1989. The 2014 film Soreike! Anpanman: Ringo Bōya to Minna no Negai (Let's Go! Anpanman: The Apple Boy and Everyone's Wishes) was the first film since Anpanman creator Takashi Yanase's passing.

The 30th film in the franchise, Soreike! Anpanman Kagayake! Kurun to Inochi no Hoshi (Let's go! Anpanman: Shine! Kurun and the Star of Life), opened in Japan on June 30, 2018.
