posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Video game production company Granzella announced on Monday that it is developing R-Type Final 2, a sequel to Irem's R-Type Final PlayStation 2 shooter game. The developer plans to launch a crowdfunding campaign for the game, with more information scheduled for May. The game's website contains the PlayStation 4 logo. The company describes the game:
In this latest version of R-TYPE game, all the player fighters that appeared in R-TYPE Final, expressions of attacks, operability and the exhilarating feeling of the gameplay will be intensified. In addition, more customizable elements will be available for the player fighters.
The game will be the first R-Type game in the series to be made for 16:9 aspect ratio screens, with stages from previous games being rebuilt from scratch with "new expressions and interpretations." Players will also be able to set difficulty levels for the game.
The first R-Type arcade shooter debuted in 1987. R-Type Final debuted for the PS2 in 2003, while the R-Type Tactics and R-Type Tactics II sequel debuted for the PlayStation Portable in 2007 and 2009, respectively. Tōzai Games launched R-Type Dimensions, a compilation of the first two R-Type games, on PC via Steam last November.
