Weathering With You Film Stays at #1, Konosuba Film Opens at #8

Makoto Shinkai's new film Weathering With You (Tenki no Ko) stayed #1 in its seventh weekend. The film sold 347,000 tickets over the weekend, and earned 416,579,300 yen (about US$3.91 million) from Friday to Sunday. The film has so far sold 8.75 million tickets for 11,657,382,300 yen (about US$109 million) since opening. The film is now the #8 highest-earning film of all time in Japan.
The film sold 1,159,020 tickets for 1,643,809,400 yen (about US$15.22 million) in its first three days in 358 theaters. The film ranked #1 in its opening weekend.

Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution (Mewtwo no Gyakushū Evolution), the 22nd film in the Pokémon franchise, dropped off the top 10 in its eighth weekend, but still earned 36,401,400 (about US$342,600) from Friday to Sunday, and has earned a cumulative total of 2,832,806,700 yen (about US$26.6 million).
