TOKYO, Japan (October 9, 2022) – Ahead of the much-anticipated nationwide release of ONE PIECE FILM RED on November 4, the fans of the internationally acclaimed series in New York were treated to large-scale promotional experiences. On October 6, approximately 450 people attended the U.S. premiere screening of ONE PIECE FILM RED at New York Comic Con (NYCC), the major pop culture convention on the east coast. On October 8, during NYCC, between 7:00 pm-8:00 pm (EST), the “One Pieceproduction committee launched an exclusive Times Square takeover ad campaign which utilized multiple digital billboards to showcase an immersive ad experience that led excited fans to fill the streets of Times Square for a chance to witness this significant moment in ONE PIECE history.

In Japan, the film was released on August 6, 2022 in theaters, and watched by over 1.57 million people in the first 2 days with a box office of over 2.25 billion yen (15.4 million USD). The film continues to dominate the Japanese box office by staying in the top ranking even today. As of October 3, ONE PIECE FILM RED has a box office revenue of 16.2 billion yen (116.24 million USD) with over 11.69 million admissions in Japan and is about to reach the all-time highest box office ranking. With the franchise also popular in the U.S., the publisher is anticipating the film will be well received. ONE PIECE FILM RED tickets are now available in the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

ONE PIECE FILM RED's U.S. Premiere a Huge Success

Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates made a "big splash" during NYCC as fans enjoyed engaging with large booth displays of ONE PIECE at NYCC. The U.S. premiere was on October 6 – Day-1 of NYCC. About 450 people were exclusively invited to attend the screening and filled the room to its capacity at AMC Lincoln Square 13. When the ONE PIECE characters appeared on screen, the audience immediately cheered. On October 8 at Javits Center where the NYCC was held, roughly 4,500 fans enjoyed ONE PIECE FILM RED panel. Panelists including Director Goro Taniguchi, Producer Shinji Shimizu of Toei Animation and Producer Hiroaki Shibata of Toei Animation shared how much their passion went into producing the film with the fans. ONE PIECE FILM RED's English voice actors Colleen Clinkenbeard (Monkey D. Luffy), Sonny Strait (Usopp), Luci Christian (Nami), Christopher R. Sabat (Roronoa Zoro), and Ian Sinclair (Brook) were also on stage.

Fans Converge for Times Square Takeover

In celebration for the upcoming release of ONE PIECE FILM RED, a large-scale out-of-home takeover ad campaign utilizing multiple digital billboards was launched in Times Square for 1 full hour from 7:00 pm EST. The exclusive ad experience starts with a countdown and then shows a series of memorable scenes from the original ONE PIECE anime. A giant scale Luffy and the other popular Straw Hat Pirates also made their appearance. Uta, who makes her debut in ONE PIECE FILM RED, along with Shanks, who plays a key role in the new film, also made their appearance. ONE PIECE fans who came to witness this significant moment for the franchise shared photos and videos on their social media and those posts have been widely disseminated across Twitter and other social media platforms.
