Yeah, some people are claiming that Nintendo is lying through their teeth and is totally gonna release the fabled "Switch Pro" this year, but even if they do it won't be what people think it is.

I don't see Nintendo releasing a souped-up Switch, I see them releasing a new model of Switch with better internals that runs faster/more reliably but not on a noticeably-improved manner--like, it's not gonna suddenly be on-par with a PS4. It'll just have way-shorter load times.

People were saying that last year too... although we did get the Switch Lite Razz

I'm sure Nintendo will eventually released a better Switch, since we did get the DSi and New 3DS. Not exactly a 'Pro' like people are probably thinking, but towards the end of the systems life maybe they throw out a better one with some exclusive titles. Maybe around a year before they announce their next system if past traditions are any indicators.

Same; there's really no point to making a "Switch Pro" when they can just wait until, say, 2022 and reveal a brand new system. Even if they did make one, games would have to be made in mind for the weaker SKUs anyway. The Switch is still selling like mad, so Nintendo is in no rush.

People need to understand that not only Nintendo, but almost all companies have a schedule and a marketing plan to follow for their important announcements. They won't just ruin those plans and reveal something before it's ready simply because someone asked it on Twitter or on a investors' briefing.

I believe the difference this time is that Nintendo isn't answering investor questions, but that they officially said no new switch model for 2020 as part of their officia presentation, no?

That therefore means they are officially saying no new Switch for 2020, rather than just playing vaguely coy during Q & A time...

Frankly, they don't need it.

That is true but the fact remains that Nintendo does what it pleases. It's funny that this rumour has made people forgot about that.... I get no sense that Nintendo is burning to have a "Switch Pro" on the shelves at the moment even with the talk about next-gen system and I am not really worried for the next year into their life span if only because a lot of AAA-devs are learning to scale projects and will likely not stress out the systems within that time frame.

And don't get me started on real-time ray-tracing.... even with Consoles, that is a lot of ifs.
