Bummer. It had to end eventually. Is the PSP still selling? The bigger home PlayStations seem to have a habit of continuing to sell well long after the next one debuts.

Sony doesn't even bother mentioning the existence of PS Vita in its N. America NPD press releases, let alone the PSP.

Considering that the PSP is virtually obscure in the U.S., it was only a matter of time before the PlayStation Store would be no more.

I'm surprised it was still up. Given that the PSP doesn't allow for WPA2-PSK security, I haven't been able to connect to the internet with my PSP for a few years, since that's the lowest my DSL modem will go.

Took them long enough to close it. Last time PSP was active on 2013 and in Japan.

I've been playing a lot of PSP lately. Super Robot Wars Z2.

Something that has sold 20 million units is not obscure by any stretch. By that stance, the 3DS in the US is obscure, which would be absurd if you even attempted to say such a thing.

While I agree with the notion that the PSP isn't an obscure system around these parts it had it's time and is no longer relevant. Whereas the 3DS is and still has time to sell more here in it's lifetime than the PSP.

Yeah, I'm surprised it took them this long considering pretty much no one has a router set up with a protocol that the PSP works with.

Still have my PSP ports of Street Fighter due to the 25th anniversary stuff for download, but Vita can handle that.

Fact: The PSP was discontinued 2 years ago so its not so news here.

It is unfair to compare a current gen handheld console to old one, 3DS is released since 2011 and it is still alive, you guys should compare with same generation which is DS/DS Lite while 3DS should be compare with PS Vita.
