Namco Bandai's ShiftyLook to Launch Time Crisis, Valkyrie Webcomics

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
Time Crisis adaptation chosen because of ANN's February poll

Namco Bandai Games' ShiftyLook webcomic project announced at the London MCM Expo on Saturday that it will publish webcomic adaptations of the Time Crisis and Valkyrie no Densetsu classic video games.

ShiftyLook producer, editor-in-chief and head Rob Pereyda told ANN that the decision to adapt Time Crisis (pictured at right) was based entirely on the results of a poll ANN held in February. Time Crisis had topped that poll with 21.38% of the votes. Marv Wolfman will be writing the story for the webcomic, and JJ Kirby will provide the artwork. The Time Crisis shooting game was originally released as an arcade game in 1995, and was then released in Japan and North America on the PlayStation console in 1997.

Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray will write the Valkyrie webcomic, and Fernando Furukawa will draw the art. Cryptozoic Entertainment is handling the production. Furukawa previously drew the art for the Starcraft: Ghost Academy graphic novel series published by Tokyopop. The Valkyrie no Densetsu action game was originally released as an arcade game in 1989. An exclusive preview of the Valkyrie webcomic can be viewed below.

Both webcomics will launch on ShiftyLook's website in June 2012.

Namco Bandai Games launched the ShiftyLook project earlier this year. The webcomics are available in English worldwide for free through web browsers as well as iOS and Android devices. The website currently publishes webcomics for Rocket Fox, Bravoman, Wonder Momo, The Five-Dimensional Adventures of Dirk Davies, Rapid Thunder, Alien Confidential, Scar, Xevious, Dig Dug, and Sky Kid.
