Bandai Follows Aikatsu With All-Male Dream Festival Idols
posted on by Egan Loo
Several of the Bandai Namco Group companies and partners, which produce such idol projects as Aikatsu! and Love Live!, are now launching an all-male "2.5D idol project" called Dream Festival!. The franchise centers around a new group of five male 2D idols, with their accompanying real-life cast members. Below is a music video for the idols' song "Glory Story":
The premise of the project follows five aspiring male idols at a fictional talent agency. In the world of Dream Festival!, fans support their idols with Dream Festival! Cards (a.k.a. "Dorika"). These cards unlock costume changes and special stage performances during the idols' performances.
Akane Aki drew the key visual below:
The idols are:
the blue romanticist Shin Oikawa
Junya Sasaki, "Mister Idol" who aims for the top
Itsuki Katagiri, who is amazing when dancing
the exceedingly sweet and angelic Chizuru Sawamura
The project targets the female demographics in their teens, 20s, and 30s, and has media plans for a game app, CDs, character goods, music videos, live concert events, and more. All of these media plans are tied with the official Dream Festival! Card items, which Bandai will begin selling next spring. A free smartphone game app will link with these Dream Festival! Cards.
The project's member companies include Bandai Namco Pictures, Bandai, Bandai Namco Rights Marketing (Bandai Channel), Lantis, Amuse, Bandai Namco Entertainment, Banpresto, and Beams.
