Psychic Detective Yakumo Artist Suzuka Oda Launches New Manga

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
Mystery manga follows 2 men in Japan where half of population has died of unknown infectious disease

The February 2018 issue of Kadokawa's Monthly Asuka magazine announced on Friday that manga artist Suzuka Oda will launch a new manga titled Danzai no Dragnet (Conviction's Dragnet) in the March issue, which will ship on January 24. Novelist Michiru Yoshino is credited with the original work.

The manga will adorn the March issue's cover. The first chapter will have 60 pages including a color page.

The "end of the century mystery" manga takes place in a Japan where an unknown infectious disease has killed more than half of Japan's population. The interests of two men will align to work together. Ruslan is a coroner with good looks, and Sanajima is a police officer in the Hyogo police department who is investigating the mysteries of bizarre murders.

Oda launched the Psychic Detective Yakumo manga in Monthly Asuka in 2009, and ended the 14-volume series in June 2016. The manga adapted Manabu Kaminaga's novel series of the same name. The story was adapted into a 2006 live-action television series, as well as several stage plays and two manga series.

The original novel series also inspired a television anime in 2010. Sentai Filmworks acquired the title in 2013, and released it on DVD that same year, and on Blu-ray Disc in 2014.
